Once in a lifetime encounter

About Me

Hi, I’m Marie, a local guide based in Kansai.

I’ve lived in Canada and Australia, and those experiences really shaped how I see the world. I met people from many different backgrounds and realized how much I genuinely enjoy connecting with others.

I’m naturally bubbly, easygoing, and open-minded.
I love talking, laughing, and getting to know people — and sharing what I love while also discovering what you love, whether it’s over food, drinks, or just walking around the city.

Outside of guiding, I enjoy teaching, spending time in nature, and exploring new places and local spots.
I also love relaxing in onsen, singing karaoke, and going snowboarding.

My Background

My journey started in 2013 with an internship at a local travel agency in Vancouver. Since then, I’ve worked as:

  • An English instructor
  • A hospitality professional (cafes, barista, restaurants, cruise ships, hotels, events)
  • A reservations agent at a 4-star hotel

I’ve also worked at a gym reception, interacting with people of all ages — which helped me develop strong communication skills and a natural ability to connect with others.

As a Guide

Since 2022, I’ve been guiding travelers across Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara.

I understand that traveling can be exciting, but sometimes overwhelming — especially in a country with a different language and culture.
That’s why I focus on creating a comfortable, personalized experience where you can truly relax and enjoy each moment.

From navigating busy areas to discovering quiet local spots, I’m here to make your day smooth, stress-free, and meaningful.

What I Value

I enjoy visiting famous landmarks but I believe the most memorable travel experiences often come from simple, authentic moments.

A local bar, a hidden restaurant, or a casual conversation.

For me, travel is not just about places — it’s about connection.
The kind you feel when you’re exploring a city with a friend, not just following a guide.

  • With your guide
  • Wish locals
  • With the place itself

Spending time in the same space while sharing small moments, and experiencing the local atmosphere together can make a trip more meaningful.
